Either you are on your way from Lisboa to Porto or vice versa, Leiria is a good place to give you a break in-between.

If you like the big Ocean you’ll reach it in half an hour! If you are fond of History told by old and magic monasteries in Batalha, Alcobaça or Tomar, then you can’t choose a better place to stay. Moved by faith or culture curiosity a drive to  the Sanctuary of Fatima will take you 15 minutes. If you are keen on Roman ruins there’s Conímbriga 16 km drive from Coimbra with its old University housing the loveliest Library in Europe. From Leiria to Coimbra it takes you 40 minutes.
